Rory McIlroy, a 36-year-old Northern Irish golfer, won the Masters at Augusta on Sunday, April 12, for the second consecutive year.
In addition to winning his second green jacket, Rory McIlroy earned a $4.5 million check. He made approximately $300,000 more than last year.
This victory brings his total earnings at Augusta to over $12 million.
He joins the prestigious group of 12 players in history to have won six or more major titles, and enters the very exclusive circle of six golfers to have won all four major championships: the Masters, the PGA Championship, the US Open, and The Open.
Another notable figure from this 90th edition of The Masters is that Australian golfer Adam Scott played in his 98th consecutive major.
However, he remains far from the record held by Jack Nicklaus, with 146 consecutive majors. Adam Scott would still need to play another 12 uninterrupted years to match Jack Nicklaus!!
