The Knicks Are Two Wins Away from Glory, 53 Years After Their Last Title

53 years after their last NBA title, the New York Knicks have taken a commanding step toward the championship after their second consecutive victory (105-104) on the Spurs’ home court, before the next two games in New York.

The young 22-year-old star Victor Wembanyama struggled against New York’s physical play, particularly against the experienced Karl-Anthony Towns (21 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists).

The Spurs nevertheless held a 14-point lead with 6 minutes remaining, before suffering a devastating 14-0 run.

Wemby nearly turned the game around in the second half by scoring 22 points and grabbing 4 rebounds, but after missing the potential game-winning shot, he admitted that he had “once again lacked clarity.”

The Knicks now need just two more wins to claim their third NBA title. Game 3 will take place on Monday, June 8, at Madison Square Garden, where 20,000 fans are expected.
